Stephen Trudnak, RLA, FASLA

Steve has more than 30 years of professional practice as a licensed landscape architect in the State of Florida. He was the first member of the American Society of Landscape Architects from Southwest Florida to be elected to Fellow. As Director of Planning and Development for Bonita Bay Properties (The Bonita Bay Group) for more than three years and as principal of his own design firm for sixteen years he has strengthened his ability to guide projects as both the client and the consultant. His work has been acknowledged by his peers with multiple awards and national recognition. Since joining Johnson Engineering as Senior Landscape Architect, Steve has used his professional experiences and tenure to provide guidance and support to the JEI team for projects of all types; including commercial and residential developments, civic improvements such as parks, streetscapes, signs and way finding systems, bikeways, and the beautification of municipal facilities.

Scott Smith

K. Scott Smith joined Johnson Engineering in June 2006 as a landscape designer for the planning and landscape architecture group. Scott has been involved in numerous types of projects including: Streetscape, Commercial and Residential landscape and irrigation design, the production and coordination of landscape permit packages, and conducting construction documentation and observation services. His heavy involvement during the certificate of compliance process has proven beneficial for the accuracy and thoroughness of all Johnson Engineering’s projects. Scott’s capabilities cover the entire spectrum of the design process, from the conveyance of initial ideas through conceptual sketches and diagrams, to detailed plans appropriate for permitting and construction, to construction observations, inspections, and final project close-out. Recent projects have led Scott to the research, design, and implementation oversight of recreated wetlands. Recreated wetlands, or rain gardens, are necessary for site infrastructure and the rehabilitation of natural habitats; their visibility has the potential to educate the public about the importance of stormwater filtration while adding value to a project by its addition to a site’s list of amenities. The rain gardens that Scott has been involved in can be seen in several different project types, including lager scale residential developments, commercial developments, as well as roadway corridors.
