Project Profiles

Alico Road Improvements
Johnson Engineering is providing Construction Engineering and Inspection services for the Alico Road Improvements project for the Lee County D.O.T. The current improvements will widen Alico from a two to six-lane roadway. This project also includes a nearly three mile inspection of the new 36” DIP water main for Lee County Utilities, over two miles of improvements to the Briarcliff ditch, and a large weir structure, numerous utility relocations and multiple rail road crossings.

Veterans Blvd.
Johnson Engineering is currently providing the Construction Engineering and Inspection services for the Veterans Blvd. widening project for Charlotte County. The current improvements will widen Veterans Blvd. from a two to four-lanes from Toledo Blade Blvd. to Peachland Blvd. in Port Charlotte. In addition to providing CEI services, this project also includes drainage improvements along Veterans Blvd.
State Road 776
Johnson Engineering provided Construction Engineering and Inspection services for the Florida Department of Transportation to expand the existing two-lane roadway to a four-lane roadway, with a center left turn lane and/or median urban section of 3.5 miles of S.R. 776 from Dearborn Street north to Keyway Road in Sarasota County. The project included new drainage, roadway, box culverts, signalization, and highway lighting, as well as utility improvements/relocations by FPL, GTE, Comcast Cable and the Englewood Water District.
Immokalee Road & 43rd Ave. NE to Collier Blvd.
The Immokalee Road (CR 846) project from Collier Blvd. (CR 951) to 43rd Avenue NE is the largest roadway project undertaken in Collier County to date. Originally scheduled to be a four-lane widening of a rural roadway, it may be enlarged to a six-lane urban roadway. The project length is eight miles and incorporates all facets of roadway construction including 16 miles of new utility construction, drainage, and an environmental wildlife bridge.
Bonita Beach Road Improvements
Johnson Engineering was selected to perform the CEI services for the 2.4 mile Bonita Beach Road Improvement project. This project involved reconstructing a two-lane roadway into a four-lane urban roadway, with medians, which provides access to the Bonita Beach area and serves as the main Hurricane Evacuation Route. Also included was the construction of two new bridges and roadway signalization. The project was awarded the 1998 American Public Works Association (APWA) National Project of the Year.
