Project Profiles

Treviso Bay
Performed a hydrogeological investigation to evaluate the development of groundwater resources needed for irrigation of the V.K. Development Corporation's 1,045-acre residential community and eighteen-hole golf course in Collier County. Investigation consisted of installing fifteen test wells in the Surficial aquifer, performing two 48-hour aquifer performance tests, chloride profiling, packer testing of discrete aquifer intervals to isolate freshwater/saltwater interface, mapping of the Surficial aquifer potentiometric surface, groundwater modeling to simulate drawdown of the Surficial aquifer, groundwater quality analyses for irrigation suitability, consumptive water use permitting through the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD), and continuous monitoring of the Surficial aquifer potentiometric surface in several wells using digital recorders.

Lee County Utilities Corkscrew Wellfield
Conceptually designed a 5 MGD expansion of an existing 10 MGD wellfield, installed test production and monitor wells in the Surficial, Sandstone, and Lower Hawthorn aquifers, completed long-term aquifer performance tests in each aquifer, modeled drawdown in each aquifer, modified SFWMD consumptive water use permit for 5 MGD expansion, performed groundwater quality analyses, completed a geotechnical investigation, and designed 24 production wells and 28,000 feet of raw water transmission lines.

Lee County Port Authority Mitigation Park
Monitored hydrologic and meteorologic conditions on the 7,500-acre mitigation park created to offset impacts associated with expansion of Southwest Florida International Airport terminal expansion, installed 40 shallow wells outfitted with digital water levels recorders and several tipping bucket rainfall gauges, evaluated three years of daily water levels from 40 wells to understand existing site hydrology, used hydrologic data to determine ground surface elevations necessary for hydroperiods of constructed wetlands, obtained a 9 MGD consumptive water use permit for irrigation of new wetland plants during drought conditions and dry season. Designed and completed a soil and groundwater contamination assessment of a cattle dipping vat located on the northern portion of the mitigation park.

Crown Colony
Performed a hydrogeological investigation to evaluate the development of on-site groundwater resources for irrigation of the Centex Home's 300-acre residential community and golf course. Investigation consisted of well construction, aquifer performance testing, and water quality analyses of the Surficial, Sandstone, Mid Hawthorn, Lower Hawthorn, and Suwannee aquifers. Obtained a consumptive water use permit from the SFWMD for withdrawals from the Lower Hawthorn aquifer and constructed production and monitor wells.

Fort Myers Beach Deep Injection Well
Inspected construction and testing of the Class I deep injection well and associated dual-zone monitor well. The injection zone was completed at a total depth of 3,036 feet below land surface and used to dispose of 7.9 MGD of excess secondary treated effluent from the wastewater treatment plant. Tested the mechanical integrity of the deep injection well in accordance with FDEP rules.

Florida Gulf Coast University
Designed irrigation production wells and emergency wells for hurricane shelters. Complete modifications and renewals of SFWMD consumptive irrigation water use permit. Perform necessary support services including calibration checks of water use accounting methods, pump and irrigation system design, pumpage recording and reporting, water level monitoring in nearby wetlands and water bodies.
